We all know I love playing chess. But it is important to change it up some times. You could go hiking or biking or mountain climbing. But what do I really like to do when I’m bored with chess? Turn my dual purpose board and play a little bit of backgammon.
I can feel you judging me but just listen. Backgammon is a game that has been around for hundreds of years. It is a really strategic game but also has the element of luck thrown in there to spice things up a little bit.
It completely makes sense that someone who enjoys chess would love backgammon too. But getting a set for each individual game could become expensive. And if you live in a smaller space you might just not have the storage for both. That is why I love a backgammon chess set. They only take up the space of one board, and many times they fold away. Plus it gives you lots of options. Today we are going to check out some of my favorite sets.

Peradix 3 in 1 Chess Checkers Backgammon set
- What I love: It is magnetic making moving during play impossible; never lose your spot because someone bumped the table.
- What I dislike: Smaller pieces are easier to lose when not stored right away.
- Price: Cheap
This 3 in one set is great for playing games with the children. With the magnetic pieces they stay on the board even when a game is interrupted with things like bed time. Or if you bump the table the pieces stay on the board where they were placed.
It is a great set to teach your children these games, but the board is a little bit to the smaller side. On the other hand that does make it a great set to travel with. The chess box is great for storage since everything can be packed away and stored in one spot. But the pieces are pretty small so they could easily get lost.

It definitely isn’t the fanciest set on the list but it still works really well and feels sturdy. It is a great set for families.
Woodronic 3 in 1 Backgammon Chess Checkers set
- What I love: The fact that it is made of PU leather and roles up.
- What I dislike: Pieces are really small.
- Price: Affordable
I have to admit I just love this one mostly because of the way it looks. It has a storing pocket where you store all of the pieces and then the board roles up. It is great for small spaces and for taking with you when you go on trips. It can even be popped into a bag to be taken on a long flight.
The only negative I have about this set is the fact that the pieces are really small and they get lost easily. There are even some people who have commented that the checkers pieces are hard to grip since they are so small.
This isn’t going to be the set that you play with all the time. It really is only for when you are traveling and need a compact set to keep you entertained. But it is just such a beautiful set and the PU leather feels really luxurious.

- What I love: The large size and lots of options
- What I dislike: Not the most durable game on this list
- Price: Affordable
If you want to change things up even more then you get a lot of options with this set. Of course it has backgammon and chess but it also adds to that checkers, tic-tac-toe and sling puck games. It gives a wide variety of games for the family to play.
The first really wonderful thing about this set is its size. As someone once said, whether you watch a movie on your phone or on the big screen, it is still the same movie. But it is just more fun when the screen is bigger. The same goes for chess and backgammon. It is more enjoyable on a larger board. That is why this set is on the list.

Most of the time the sets are made well but there have been a few reviews where the set wasn’t very durable. But it is made from premium quality pinewood and hand carved. As long as it is well taken care of it could last a long time. It also isn’t great for travel since it is so large, but it is the perfect addition to any game room.
Since it does have some beginner strategic games included it is a great way to get children hooked on board games and teach them how to strategize. Storage is easy with this set too.

This set is just stunning. The design on the board is lovely and it feels really nice when playing with it. The pieces are large and that makes them nicer to move around the board. It has a leather edge coating that makes it look more polished and expensive. It has hidden magnets inside the board that keeps it closed and keeps your pieces safe.
Storage is easy with everything getting enclosed inside the board when you want to pack it away. It does mean that you can take it with you when you travel.
It is a bit on the pricier side of these types of game boards. But that could be because it has the feeling of a luxury made handcrafted piece. The set pieces are made from plastic that are weighted. That means that they don’t move around on the board when you aren’t playing with them but they are light enough to carry when you are carrying the entire set or traveling.
